Thriving Industries in the Intermountain West

The geographic region known as the Intermountain West boasts an increasing population that consists of young, well-educated people. Another obvious advantage of the area is the vast amount of natural resources along the corridor. Among the Intermountain states, Utah stands out in particular for its pro-business environment. Utah has a mixed economy made up of industries such as tourism, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, and information technology to name a few. The Wasatch Front, home to the state capital Salt Lake City, produces the majority of Utah's economic output. Key industries include coal mining, salt production, and government services. With tax breaks and low energy costs and real estate prices, Utah's business-friendly climate has attracted a plethora of big-name companies. Additionally, the region's natural attractiveness will continue to help draw companies and entrepreneurs into the area. Given those factors alone, Utah and the Intermountain West should witness steady growth over the next several years.
